Orissa Philatelic Association
Orissa Philatelic Association is the oldest association of philatelists of Orissa. This association was founded by Late Padmabhusan Dr.Radhanath Rath as founder President and Major S. C. Mohanty as Secretary, having its regd office at Gopabandhu Bhawan (where the largest circulation of Oriya daily news paper, the Samaja, is printed). After demise of Dr Radhanath Rath, Mr. Sahadeva Sahoo (now a Retd. IAS) became President. This association is affiliated to the Philatelic Congress of India. Mr. Sahadeva Sahoo was the President of Philatelic Congress of India, 2000-04. The association has to its credit two national philatelic exhibitions it organised in 2000 and 2003. The association has released many special covers and maximcards on different occasions in association with India Post and other organisations jointly and individualy also. It also organised many exhibitions on general and on different themes for promotion of the hobby. With an aim to promoting philately in the State, the association organised workshops in schools and colleges jointly with India Post .
The regular meeting of the association is held at Philatelic Bureau, Cuttack GPO on every second satureday of the month at 4 pm.
